Breast Augmentation with Fat Grafting
Breast augmentation or breast reconstruction with fat grafting is a natural, rejuvenating and minimally invasive alternative to implants. Fat grafting has the added benefit of removing fat from one area of your body to augment your breast. A liposuction procedure removes the fat for this form of augmentation.
Fat Grafting Benefits
Patients who choose fat grafting surgery are often looking for an alternative to implants. Many also prefer this option because it uses their own tissue, decreasing the risk of complications sometimes caused by the introduction of implants. Other benefits of fat grafting include:
- Your own fat is easily reabsorbed by the body
- Results look and feel natural
- No incisions or stitches
- Procedure is performed without general anesthesia
- No loss of nipple sensation
- No difficulty with future breastfeeding
- Minimal discomfort
- Contours and removes excess fat from the donor site
Fat Grafting Surgery Corrects:
- Correct skin depressions
- Minimize wrinkles
- Restore tissue volume
- Augment breasts.
In order to undergo fat grafting surgery, you must have enough fatty tissue at the harvest site to be transplanted.
Fat Grafting Surgery With Dr. Margoles
The first step in your fat grafting procedure is to remove the fatty tissue from the harvest site. This is accomplished by making a small incision at the desired location and suctioning out a conservative amount of fat. Your fat tissue will be re-injected with a needle beneath the surface of your skin at the treatment site. Your incision will be closed with sutures and wrapped in surgical gauze.
You will be in the recovery room for 1 hour following the procedure, after which you will be sent home. All patients must have a responsible adult with them to return home. It is also strongly advised that a responsible adult stay the night with you.
Fat Grafting Surgery Aftercare & Recovery
Recovery is generally quick and the effects of fat grafting are long-lasting. Any pain or discomfort can be treated with prescription medications. Patients can expect swelling, bruising and redness at both the removal and injection sites. Dr. Margoles may advise you to avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours or to use sunblock to protect the sensitive areas.
You will receive detailed post-surgery care instructions and Dr. Margoles and her staff will be available to answer any questions or concerns. It is important to follow Dr. Margoles instructions carefully to ensure the best results and easiest recovery.
