Breast Lift with Implant in GREENWICH, CT & Westchester, NY - Dr. Sandra Margoles
Breast surgery is one of the most popular types of aesthetic plastic surgery. Women that desire an increase in breast size turn to breast augmentation, placing an implant into the breast to increase volume. Breast surgery can also address sagging and drooping breasts. A breast lift reshapes the breast and restores a more youthful shape and position on the chest wall.
While breast augmentation and breast lift are both popular on their own, many women desire a combination of these two treatments. By combining a breast lift with augmentation, patients can enjoy the positive benefits of both procedures together, overcoming many of the effects that aging, pregnancy, and weight loss have on the breasts.

What Happens During a Breast Augmentation Plus Lift?
Incisions are placed strategically on the breasts. The positioning of your incisions will depend on the amount of sagging present and the type of implants being used. Common incision patterns for breast lift surgery include:
A periareolar incision is placed around the areola, in the color transition between the lighter breast and the darker areola. This incision leaves minimal scarring but only allows for a small amount of lift. Since the implants are placed through the incision, silicone breast implants may be too large for this incision type.
After the incisions are created, excess skin and tissue are removed, and a pocket is created within the breast to hold the implant. A saline or silicone breast implant is placed into the breast pocket. The incisions are sutured closed, and the breast area is wrapped with bandaging and compression garments. Some patients may require surgical drains to help remove excess fluid from the breasts during the initial recovery phases.
What Can I Expect in Recovery?
You will be able to return home with a friend or family member. Our team will provide you with a comprehensive list of aftercare instructions and prescribe you pain medications to ease your recovery process. Patients can return to work after 7 to 14 days, and they should avoid vigorous activities for 3 weeks. Visible bruising should resolve within 2 weeks, and swelling should begin to subside within 3 weeks. You will have regular follow-up appointments with Dr. Margoles after your surgery and will also be able to contact her with any questions or issues at any time.

About Breast Augmentation with Lift FAQ
Most patients will have some scarring after a breast augmentation + lift. However, due to Dr. Margoles’s advanced surgical techniques and well-placed incisions, most patients describe the effects of this scarring as minimal. Dr. Margoles understands that patients are concerned about scarring and takes every effort to minimize and camouflage scarring.
At first, incisions will be dark and moderately visible, but as incisions mature, the scars will fade. A year after surgery, most patients report minimal visible scarring and a dramatically improved breast appearance after this procedure.
It is difficult to estimate the cost of a surgical procedure without first meeting with patients to discuss their goals. We provide each patient with a detailed quote for their desired operations during their consultation. Payment and financing options may be available.
Silicone breast implants are known for their natural feel. They feel surprisingly similar to natural breast tissue, even outside of the breast. While silicone implants are best known for a natural feel, Dr. Margoles uses special techniques to achieve a similar natural feel with saline breast implants. By placing the implant under the pectoral muscle and fully expanding its shell with extra saline, she can achieve a very natural look and feel with saline breast implants.
While most breast lift patients will have a visible scar on the breast, results are still very natural looking. The implant and breast lift combination enhances the breast’s shape, helping it appear fuller and rounder. After scars fade, most patients are delighted by the natural look Dr. Margoles is able to achieve.
Breast lift surgery may complicate breastfeeding for some patients. If you’re interested in breastfeeding in the future, let Dr. Margoles know so she can advise you.
