BREAST LIFT IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY

Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is for women who feel their breast have begun to droop and lose volume after pregnancy, massive weight loss, or just with age. The precise surgical removal of excess skin and tissue, results in breasts that are more defined and slender in appearance. This procedure can also improve the location of the nipple as well.

Benefits of Breast Lift Surgery

The best candidates for breast lift surgery are those who are in good health, do not smoke and are dissatisfied with the placement of their breasts or nipples.

Breast lift surgery is good for:

  • Aging breasts
  • Drooping or sagging breasts
  • Volume restoration
  • Elongated breasts
  • Stretched, enlarged or misplaced nipples

Women who have been pregnant or nursed are also left with less volume in their breasts and can benefit from Greenwich plastic surgeon Dr. Margoles' breast lift procedure.

Your Breast Lift Surgery with Dr. Margoles

Incisions for your breast lift occur in one of three areas: around the areola, around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease, or around the areola, vertically down and horizontally along the breast crease. Dr. Margoles can recommend the best choice for your situation.

Following the incisions, your underlying breast tissue will be reshaped, the nipple and areola will be repositioned to the appropriate height and size, and any excess skin will be removed. The incisions are then closed with sutures which are layered deep with the breast tissue to help support the newly shaped breasts.

What to Expect After Your Surgery

While the results of your breast lift surgery are immediate, post-surgical swelling will be evident. You may need to wear an elastic bandage or support bra for some time to allow your breasts to heal. Patients should also expect some loss of feeling in your nipples and surrounding skin. The numbness will eventually fade over the next 6 weeks. Healing is a gradual process and follow-up visits or procedures may need to be considered.

Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is designed to improve the position and shape of breasts that sag on the chest. The sagging could be attributed to pregnancy/breastfeeding, significant weight fluctuation or simply the effects of aging. By removing excess skin and elevating the breast mound, the cleavage will look perkier and more attractive.

Dr. Margoles is a respected Greenwich breast lift provider. As a female surgeon, she understands the desire to have perky, youthful-looking breasts. Her refined surgical techniques allow her to deliver transformative results that her patients love.

Am I a Candidate for Breast Lift?

You might be a suitable candidate for breast lift if you have drooping, sagging or tubular-shaped breasts that sit low on the chest. You should be in good health, not smoke and not have any chronic, uncontrolled medical conditions. Ideally, you should not plan to become pregnant or breastfeed in the future, as those factors could reverse the effects of surgery.

Your breast lift candidacy will be evaluated during a consultation with Dr. Margoles. After she understands what you dislike about your breasts, she will advise whether breast lift alone will satisfy your needs and goals. You might require a combination of breast procedures. For example, if you would like perkier breasts that are also larger, Dr. Margoles may recommend combination breast lift-augmentation. On the other hand, if you would like perkier breasts that are smaller, breast lift-reduction may be more appropriate.

Your Breast Lift Surgery

Breast lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. Anesthesia is used to keep you comfortable during the procedure.

Dr. Margoles will select the appropriate incision pattern, based on the size of your breasts and the degree of correction necessary. Options including the following:

  • Doughnut-shaped (around the areola)
  • Lollipop-shaped (around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease)
  • Anchor-shaped (around the areola, vertically down and horizontally along the breast crease)

Through the incisions, Dr. Margoles will lift the underlying breast tissue layers and reshape the breast mound higher on the chest. She will relocate the nipple-areola complex on the breast and reshape, if needed. She will remove excess breast skin and tighten the remaining skin around the newly positioned breast. Then, she will close the incisions with sutures layered deep within the breast tissue to help support the breast.

Recovering from Breast Lift Surgery

After surgery, swelling, bruising and soreness are normal aftereffects. Wearing an elastic bandage or support bra reduces swelling and helps the tissues as they heal. It is normal to experience some loss of feeling in the nipples and surrounding skin; the numbness will subside within approximately six weeks.

During your initial recovery, you must avoid bending, heavy lifting or strenuous activity (including exercise). Dr. Margoles will give you instructions for caring for your incisions, wearing your support garment and returning to the office for follow-up visits. Slowly, you can return to work, exercise and the rest of your normal routine.
